Eli,aka "Squirt", "Little Buddy" and one of the "Evil Twins" beat a terminal diagnosis of cancer when he was 2 years old, going on to share 9 more memorable years with us before crossing the Rainbow Bridge at age 11.
When he was only 4 months old Eli began to show great potential in the field... however as often was the case back then, when you did well in the showring your days in the field were cut short (while your coat grows longer and your points grow larger). At only 6 months of age, he reminded us of a young Special, with everything already in place for a successful career ahead. He earned his coveted first major as a puppy, and though nearly finished by a year, our first child put his show career on hold for two more years. He came back to finish his title where it had began... and at the very same show! By this time he'd already surpassed that cancer diagnosis by more than a month or two, and I remember sharing tears of joy with several other Gordon folk that day. Nobody knows how or why he managed to continue beating the odds all those years, but we guess it had something to do with his stubborn streak and need to always have the last word.
